“Decollage II”

(2012)
PVA and Photographs on wood

When starting a new project, I tend to start by making collages which almost act as a mood board containing all my ideas. In contrast, this piece was created focusing more on the process of decollage. This technique, which  involves the ripping and tearing away of original images, is reminiscent of the advertisements used on billboards.

However, rather than use a pre existing image, this piece includes my own photograph which has been digitally edited to present a clean image and then pasted on and torn away. The time spent ‘perfecting’ the image on Photoshop justaposes with the rough, torn way it has been displayed.
